What we see in Brockworth

Brockworth is largely post-war and later estate housing under Cooper's Hill, with a big stretch of newer development around Coopers Edge. The older stock around Ermin Street and Court Road has concrete or tarmac drives from the original build, often narrow, with a strip of lawn beside them that people want turned into a second parking space.

The new-build side of the village has the opposite problem: shallow developer block paving that has settled unevenly within a few years. Ground at the foot of the escarpment holds water after heavy rain, so the dig-out depth and the sub-base do the real work here. We check where water ends up before quoting anything.

Questions

Common questions in Brockworth

Can I extend my drive over the front lawn?

Usually yes on your own land. If the existing vehicle crossing does not cover the wider opening, the county council has to approve a new or widened crossing before the kerb is altered.

Which surfaces meet the drainage rules here?

Resin-bound and permeable block paving both let water through to an open sub-base. Solid tarmac is fine if the fall takes water to a border, soakaway or channel on your plot rather than out to the road.

How long will a Brockworth drive take?

Three to four days for a standard single drive, four to six for a double with new edgings. Wet ground can add a day for extra dig-out and stone.
